Georgia AIM (Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing), led by Georgia Tech’s Enterprise Innovation Institute, is a statewide effort to accelerate AI adoption in manufacturing while expanding economic opportunity. Launched in 2022 with $65 million in federal support—now leveraged into about $120 million—the initiative reaches all 159 Georgia counties, including 133 that are rural or economically distressed. Its purpose is clear: to ensure that advanced technology benefits communities that have often been left behind.
With more than 40 partners—including HBCUs, the Technical College System of Georgia, and local development districts—Georgia AIM focuses on opportunity populations such as women, rural residents, K-12 students, and workers in distressed regions. The program combines exposure, training, and credentialing to prepare people for high-demand careers. A mobile studio travels across the state bringing robotics and AI demonstrations directly to schools and communities, while innovation studios in technical colleges provide hands-on training and new curriculum aligned with employer needs. Regional strategic planning engages local leaders to tailor AI solutions for manufacturers of all sizes.
Georgia AIM illustrates how coalition building, career advisement, and intentional outreach can reduce barriers to entry in advanced manufacturing. By connecting people with technology and opportunity, the initiative not only prepares a more diverse workforce but also strengthens economic resilience across Georgia.
